Basic understanding of electronic components

Each electronic component has its own unique characteristics and roles. Currently in any system of machines at factories or even in the household electrical system we see the presence of these electronic components. So in general, what are electronic components? There are some definitions of electronic components but we can understand in the simplest way, an electronic component is a basic electronic component and can be in a separate device (a separate device odd or discrete components) with two or more electrical connectors. These components will be connected together, usually by welding to a printed circuit board, to create an electronic circuit (a separate circuit) with a specific function (such as an amplifier, radio receiver, or oscillator).

Basic electronic components can be individually packaged, such as arrays or networks of similar components, or integrated into packages such as semiconductor integrated circuits (ICs), hybrid integrated circuits, or the paste chip.

Classification of electronic components

There are many different criteria that can help you classify electronic components. In fact, the most common is the classification based on the impact on electrical signals. According to this classification, we will ignore the impact on the DC feeding source if not necessary such as large capacity, heat, noise, ...

Can be divided into 3 basic types as follows:

  • Active components: this type of component relies on a power source and is often able to deliver electricity to an electrical circuit.
  • Passive components (passive): this component is the type that cannot transmit energy into the circuits to which they are connected. They cannot even rely on a power source unless they are available when connected to circuits (AC). Therefore, they cannot be amplified even though they can increase the voltage or current by a transformer or resonant circuit. Most passive components are components with 2 connectors (2-terminal component).
  • Electromechanical components: have electrical effects associated with mechanics such as quartz, switches, ...
